About the Department

The department started in 1956 offering English in the Undergraduate Honours and General courses. English at the Higher Secondary level was taught until the year 2000. The post graduate Course in English began from the 2014-15 session. In addition, the department also coordinates the Communication Skills in English programme conducted by the college, which is offered to all students of the institution.

The faculty takes a personal interest in the social and academic well being of all the students in the department, helping them individually to raise their bar. The strengths and weakness of the students are identified through personal interaction, and their needs are sought to be addressed. Hence the curriculum provides a balanced mix of special/ remedial classes, interactive discussions, presentation/ Seminars, periodic tests and feedback to help students improve academically and become aware of the wider opportunities beyond the classroom.

Every year students of the department have been suitably employed in various sectors. Many students of the department have completed higher education.
