About the Department

The Department of Sociology of Sarojini Naidu College was established in the year 2008 with only pass (general) course in the college. The department initially started with two part time faculties. Honours in Sociology was started in the year 2015 and classes began from 15th July, 2015. At present, the department is running with four faculties and Dr. Suswagata Paul is the Head of the Department. All faculties are enriched with requisite qualifications as prescribed by the UGC. Students have always maintained good results in the university examinations. The faculties always take keen interest for the social and academic well being of all the students of the department and help the students to expose their worthiness in different activities. The strength and weakness of the students are identified through close interaction with the teachers and their needs are sought to be addressed.
